Masjid al-Haram Activities
-
Timing for Masjid al-Haram Activities: Plan your activities at Masjid al-Haram (such as Tawaf and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa) in the evening or at night to avoid the daytime heat, especially if you have elderly companions with you.
-
Prayer Preparation: Use the restroom at least 30 minutes before prayer times. On Arafat day, do so at least 1 hour before Fajr prayer.
-
Resting Places: Between prayers, you can find rest inside Masjid al-Haram or Masjid an-Nabawi, where I observed many brothers and sisters taking breaks.
-
Zam Zam Water: Zam Zam water is freely available inside Masjid al-Haram and also in Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, usually accessible from small cisterns.
-
Masjid al-Haram Wildlife: It's normal to see pigeons and grasshoppers moving about on the roof of Masjid al-Haram.
-
Respect the Kaaba: When touching the Kaaba, maintain decorum and avoid inappropriate behaviors such as rubbing your body against it or throwing Ihram cloth onto it.
-
Safa-Marwa Walk: The walk between Safa and Marwa is more like a corridor than an open space between hills. Expect to see these hills enclosed behind glass or plastic screens at the ends.
-
Green Lamps Area: During the Safa-Marwa walk, notice sections with green lamps where men may jog or walk briskly while women proceed at their own pace. Avoid rushing or pushing others.
